A Watershed project, part of Encounters International Short Film Festival, DepicT! is a long-standing and extremely popular international short film competition which challenges filmmakers to create super-shorts of under 90 seconds.
Beyond the great prizes and exposure it garners through its online galleries, DepicT! offers emerging and established filmmakers a prime industry window at Encounters – a great opportunity for promoting their work and making contact with a broad range of international industry professionals, from distributors and producers to funding bodies and exhibitors, as well as other
filmmakers and enthusiastic short film fans.
All shortlisted filmmakers are invited to Encounters each year to attend the DepicT! showcase where the films are screened on the big screen before a consistently sold-out audience. The winning films are announced and screened along with all the other Encounters award-winning films at the prestigious Awards Ceremony, which in 2006 was streamed live over the internet.
Winning films have regularly gone on to be screened at other international film festivals and to be picked up by commercial distributors, and many of the filmmakers have gone on to successfully work in the industry.
